One button that calls you on WhatsApp.

An interactive voice_call message: the customer taps and WhatsApp calls your business number. Needs Cloud API Calling enabled on that number.

to and the message ids are n8n expressions that read the WhatsApp Trigger right before this node ($json.messages[0].from / .id). For a manual test, replace them with a number and a message id.

Limits & common mistakes

  1. Your business number must be on Cloud API with Calling enabled (phone number settings → calling status ENABLED) and a messaging limit of at least 2,000; calling is off by default on test numbers.

  2. display_text 20 max (default "Call Now"); ttl_minutes 1–43,200 (default 10,080 = 7 days): after that the button stops working. The sample uses 60.

  3. Optional payload up to 512 characters, only for app versions 2.25.27 and newer; older apps return error 131026.

  4. Only inside an open conversation window.

  5. This button starts a user-initiated call, which works wherever Cloud API does; business-initiated calling isn't available in Egypt, but this button doesn't need it.

How to set up the credential in n8n
  1. In n8n, open Credentials → Create credential and pick Header Auth.
  2. Fill in the two fields:
    NameAuthorization
    ValueBearer <your token>
  3. Open the pasted node. Authentication is already Generic → Header Auth; choose the credential you just made.
  4. Use a System User token from Meta Business settings; the token on the API Setup page expires within hours.Source (opens in a new tab)Source (opens in a new tab)

Your token lives in n8n only. I never ask for it.
